Default Homemade interior panels

My jeep has no interior panels in it at all. I think the guy who had it before me just stripped everything out. Has anyone made their own panels for the doors or the side walls?

I was thinking of using 3/4 inch ply wood and just cut it out to shape. Then maybe cover it in carpet fabric or plastic.

Open to any ideas

You can probably find panels at a jy or someone parting out their jeep here.

3/4 inch seems a little thick and heavy, maybe 1/4 inch?I do like your idea of plywood though.Ill be watching this.

As suggested pick up some used ones, much cheaper in the long run than 3/4" plywood and would look 10,000 times better.

Exactly how were planning to get all the interior hardware to work your way. You may be surprised how cheap used ones are.

Totally agree with this. The plywood idea may seem like it's cheaper, but it won't be. Why 3/4 plywood? That is just overkill. You would need an old door panel to use as a template to get all of the holes in the right spot only to find out the thickness of the wood is going to screw you. Just find some at the boneyard, you'll be happier with the results.

I don't have any boneyards or carlots where I live and it's hard to find a 2dr xj parts because they are so much more different then 4drs.

If you insist on plywood use 1/4 not 3/4

1/8" hardboard.. if you're serious about doing them yourself, google hot rod door panels. most of those guys build their own, and there are tons of write ups so you can see how they did it. read a lot, and use the ideas learned towards your own build

Post an add here for the panels or on the NAXJA forum to buy some from someone's parts jeep. Even it they aren't right color that is easy to change, you might luck out and find someone in your area or just shipping not that bad, check eBay.

For all the deby downers out there they didn't turn out bad at all. I used 1/4 plywood and leather with spray on adhesive.

I'm pretty satisfied
