Hitch without spare mount or custom bumper
Just spent a lot of time searching and couldn't find any pictures of hitches installed under the stock bumper. I see millions of custom hitch/bumpers, or hitches with swing down spare tire holders, or jerry can holders, I'm just looking for hitches alone, bolted on, with the stock bumper in place. I am building one and just curious how others are done and where they are bolted, and mayber if beefing up the "frame" is needed. It's a rust free 99. I use this as my "rescue vehicle" when my other cars or tractors die, I have been just hooking the chain onto a hole in the "frame", and it's starting to tear out! Need something more substantial. I am doing a complete hitch with a 2" receiver, not just tow hooks. Thanks.

To be specific, I am just wondering whether to kick the horizontal piece up or leave it straight. Here, I drew a cartoon to show what I mean. Top or bottom picture?

This is the only pic I have at the moment (not much help) I took this when I first installed it.
It bolts to the frame rails with (4) bolts on either side of the gas tank.
If you use nut-strips it makes it so much easier.
(I didn't use them)
This is what my hardware looked like. I had to use the fish-wire and run the bolts and plates into the frame.
