Ok so I been searching for another jeep and I finally think I found one. Its a 96 stock jeep with Two owners and so fat seems to be in decent condition and its $500. It needs some Floor pans and trunk replaced Because of rust but im a Restoration specialist and its minor compared to what im Used to. What I am worried about is the miles. It not like it has 250k miles. It's more like 460k.. Is it worth $500? I am going to build this thing up for wheeling so it's a project not a daily at least. Thoughts?
assuming original engine and trans, be prepared to put in replacements. who knows, they could run for another 100k if you're really lucky but at that mileage just be prepared to do it anyway. personally, wouldn't be worth it to me. find a rust free jeep with 200k or less miles for $1000. i figured you'd be hard pressed to do an engine and trans swap for $500, plus you still need to do all the labor for the floor pans. buying a $1000 rust free jeep would already put you ahead IMO, even if it needed some minor work.

ouch. really? we have a bunch of them in so cal. i get an update on my phone every time one pops up on craigslist. they go quick though, especially the ones cheaper than $1000. they all usually need some sort of work though, but nothing i wouldn't hesitate to take on.

A 500 dollar beater that needs a lot of work will cost the same as a clean 2500 dollar turn key runner, maybe even more after it is all said and done with. Spend more to get less headaches, spend less and get more headaches.

if it's just a trail vehicle, go for it! I got lucky and got my 99 with 163xxx miles for 500 bucks. i would see if you can get it cheaper though, because the 98 i just got for 700 has 218xxx miles, and was in almost perfect condition.
