Herculined Dash. What do you all think?
Hey guys, I wanted to change up my dash a little bit by customizing the top dash panel. At first I upholstered it with some Mossy Oak camo, but I couldn't get the fabric to sit perfectly. So, instead, I decided to try my luck with some Herculiner.
I sanded and primed the panel, and then I applied a couple coats of Herculiner using a brush and roller from a Rustoleum kit (way cheaper than buying the Herculiner "kit"). I spent about 40 bucks all together, with a good amount of Herculiner left.
At first I was worried the Herculiner wouldn't adhere to plastic, but then I realized it shouldn't be a problem if primed properly. The bedliner shops around here won't spray plastic panels, so I had to DIY it. Anyway, let me know what you think!

I wonder how it's gonna hold up sitting in the sun on a hot day. I would be afraid the plastic underneath would expand/contract at a different rate than the herc.
That's definitely something I'll be keeping an eye on. Just have to wait and see. But I did get a second panel just in case I screwed my first one up.

Nothing at all. I just found it to be boring in stock form. I just want to break the dashboard up a little bit so it's not all the same color black. There are a few other things I want to do, but I think this is the only thing I'm going to bedline inside. I plan on color matching both shifter pieces to the vehicles exterior. I'll do something with the center dash panel also ( the one that surrounds the radio and AC controls).
I'm pretty much obsessed with small details.

I can see your point. I can't help but to experiment. This one turned out way better than I expected it to. One of the great things about our vehicles is that they are plentiful. There are many in salvage yards. I bought spares of every dash panel for 5 bucks each, so still have a stock set of panels just in case.
