Default help. NSS? or tranny problem

I bought a 1999 cherokee, iv been driving it for a month now, and outside of having to put it in nuetral to start it, only a few times iv had to do that. But today i was parking it. I stopped put the jeep in park. Then my jeep slowly started backing up as if it was in reverse?! Any help or ideas.. maybe my NSS? Or a tranny concern?

The NSS does not have anything to do with that. Maybe you let off the button on the shifter before hitting park and it was halfway between P and R.

Having to start it in neutral is a sign of a failing NSS.
