I just picked up an OLD cherokee... Its actually the Cherokee edition of a 2 door wagoneer.... It has Dana 30, and 35 axles... Not 44s... And it has 2 headlights on each side.. I cant figure out what year it is! any help?

ok, ill post a couple more pics tomorrow... It is a 2 door, if thats any help... I just cant find any online with that grille or headlight setup...

VIN plate is messed up where the year is stamped... but I think the actual # is still there. Ill see if i can make it out well enough to decode it..

 

I have been doing a little research on line and think that your dual headlight setup may be custom. As far as the axles are concerned, according to IFSJA (International Full Size Jeep Association), the Dana 30 was only used in the Wagoneer from 71 to 73 and the Dana 35 was never used in a FSJ of any year. If the rear has the round diff cover resembling a Dana 35 it could be the AMC Model 20. Here is a link to the IFSJA website with all the info.

Ok... The Dana30/AMC 20 thing makes more sense. As far as I can tell the headlights LOOK stock... Anyhoo. Im about to do a a spring over and shackles so I can stuff some bigger rubber in there. The old beast still runs great so Its definitely gonna be a trail rig.

So that leads me to ask: How solid is an AMC 20?
and: What do I have to fix if the t-case isnt locking in in 4x4
"low" ?
