Default Help: Was in accident with 99 Cherokee, did it have ABS?

Hi, we're preparing some info for the attorneys. We have pics showing no skid marks before the Cherokee struck our car. This either meant he had anti lock brakes, or he wasn't paying attention.

The vehicles were totaled and are gone, but I have the VIN. Is there any way to determine if he had ABS?

Thanks!

Go here:

http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/j...527R%2527%2529

Type the VIN into the box, and search.

It may not work depending on the year the vehicle was made. You can always contact Jeep directly and ask them as well.

If your paying attorneys let them earn a little of the money they are charging you and let them find out the details.

Or it means that you pulled out in front of him without giving him sufficient time to react. Who does the accident report indicate was at fault? This reads suspiciously like you caused an accident and are now trying to get out of responsibility for it.

Yes, the VIN will tell you if the Cherokee came from the factory with ABS. It won't tell you if the ABS was functional or if it was even installed anymore.

ABS braking doesn't leave the obvious skid marks a skidding car does, but it does leave short-lived trace scuff marks. Also, if the Cherokee driver modulated brake pressure well enough, they could have been breaking efficiently as to not skid at all.

Police and attorneys are involved. Investigation is their job, not yours.

I'll just toss this out there:
When one peep doesn't pay attention that's a mistake, when two peeps don't pay attention that's an accident.
carry on...

I'd let the police and lawyers do their jobs its what they are paid for.

I suspect the police said it's OP's fault and the attorney is defending him in a lawsuit, and he's trying to get out of paying for the Cherokee driver's injuries by blaming the Cherokee driver for something OP did. So now he's here, grasping at straws and hoping we'll give him some miracle defense to provide his attorney.

It's not going to work. OP should settle.

Thats when you need witnesses and any buildings around their with a camera might have caught it.But if its really his fault well sometimes you have to man up and deal with a mistake you made.
