Im going to get a rustys full leaf pack 3 inch lift, but i thought id put commanchee shackles in the rear and comaro spring isolators in the front for a total of 4 inchs. Or i was going to add a 2 inch bb on top for 5 total. If i go 5 i know i would need new controll arms.

So if i go with the 5in, sence i am 2wd and dont have a t case and cant put in a SYE, would i need a new drive shaft? I know the 2wd one is longer and so i dont think angle would be as much a problem as if its long enough. But the BB has 2 inch shackles so i dont know if that helps. What else would i have to do? Is stock steering good?

I will eventually convert to 4x4, just not for a couple years.

i lifted my 2wd 4.5 and stock steering is fine, but my kit DID come with new lower control arms so im not sure if your stocks will do i dont think so though. theres not much difference really, just save the t-case drop kit for when you need it, also i recommend getting a drop pitman arm

I can get a pitman arm off of a ZJ and itll give me 1 inch drop over stock.
WJ rear LCA's replace stock and are 2 inches longer, only need a little grinding.
Also will the shocks that come with the 3 inch kit form Rust's work well with 5 inches of lift? The way i see it is since you can go 2 inches on stock shocks then 5 inches on 3 inch shocks should work. Right?

just because your at three inch doesnt mean its fine for offroad. Its fine for the street, just expect them to get pulled apart if you do any mad flexing. im at 1.5 and shocks are my big limiting factor in the rear. Your three inch lift shocks should be fine if you go to 4'' but your down travel will be limited. Another option is get BPE's for the shocks, that give you a little bit of gain

Ya im gettin a 3 inch rustys and adding on to be able to clear 32's. Im also going to put in an aussie locker to last me through highschool. If i go 5 inches ill get the gears from a I4 or a V6 cherokee, they came with 4.10 and some had 4.56. As yall can tell, i look to the junk yard for a lot of upgrades.

The 4 cylenders or the 2.5 v6's. I guess because of lack of power they put bigger gears.

Manual transmission v6's (84-86) and automatic transmission 4 bangers. If your lucky enough to find a automatic 4 banger with offroad package or tow package it will have 4:56's.

I'm pretty sure all the 4 bangers came with 4:10s or at least that's what I've come to understand. I think the 4:56's came with the pre- 91 4 bangers and like you said if they had the tow package or some offroad package. Dont think it mattered between auto and manual though

From what I have read in the past automatic 4 bangers have 3.55 gears. I havn't ever owned a 4 banger so I can only go off what I read. Im by no means a gear pro or anything. Haha. I guess it really depends on what info you read and who knows how much of that is true.
