I installed bar pin elliminators so I wouldn't have to deal with that. Try to heat up the bushing a little and tap in the bar pin.

Put some soap on it and tap it with a mallet or if you have vise even better

I used a 13/16" socket (I think) to fit over the bar pin then got it started and squeezed it through there with a C-clamp with a 1+ inch deep well socket.
So one side of c-Clamp, socket, bushing/ shock hoop, deep well socket and other end of clamp sandwich it all together. Used some type of lube to make it slide in easier.

A bit of grease helps a ton on these. Use a vice or a c clamp to get it in.

i took the bushing out of the shock, lubed that ***** up good, put it on top of the vise and used a rubber mallet to tap it in. its easier for the bushing to distort and allow the pin to slide in when its out of the retainer.
