Default Headlight By-pass

So Here's background. 99 XJ with a headlight problem after problem tried n tried everything can't find the bad ground or anything else for that matter. Gotta do the by pass. Need a checklist to make sure I have everything, and any tips from fellow XJ owners. List as follows:
14 gauge wire
Toggle switch (what wattage is recommended?)
Fuse(s)
_____ for anything else I might be missing.
At this point anything helps. Thank you all in advance

my one problem was an open wire inside the insulation right at the bulb 3 way connector. i bought a new conn.
and i checked right at the 3 contacts.
if you replace all wires i would follow the wiring diagram but you will know its done right.

What exactly is the headlight problem? If you do rewire the headlights you need to run power through a relay, from the battery to the relay. Then relay to headlights. Then the power lead from the factory switch will just operate the relays.

If that is where your problem lies then yes that would be useful. Just eliminate the connector and splice the wires together, problem solved.
