Did it rip, crack? I have looked for picture but can not find any.

Just wondering because mine has been beat on rocks pretty good and just scratches. No skid plate for me.

But if you guys swear it will break, I probably will go with a fuel cell.

Fuel cell is a hundred bucks? May go with that. Was thinking about removing the floor and raising the gas tank up. Trying to get a better rear departure angle.

My buddy dented his metal tank on his XJ it was replaced and had a tomken skid added before it went wheeling after that trip. My plastic tanks has some deep gouges in it from sharp rocks I think 1-2 more trips it would have had puntures. I added a JCR skid to mine and it had some deep gouges in it now and I've came down hard on it a few times

IMO 2 things every XJ that wheels should have are Sliders and a Gastank Skid

DEPARTURE ANGLE

I don't want anything hanging any lower than it already is. It kills me off road.

hundred bucks? you looking for a cheap 1.5 gallon or something? lol then you have to buy a pump for it. then mount it properly, then figure out how to wire up the fuel guage...

first xj had a metal tank, banged it up a lot, no leaks, but replaced it and put a skid on it

next xj had a metal tank, bashed it in so the bottom was against the bottom of the filler tube in the tank, it didnt take fuel after that. so i sunk a stock skid between the framerails and put a new tank in there. and boxed in the cargo area.

next xj had a plastic tank, it got scratched and gouged, but doesnt leak til this day. it was been dragged over rocks and it just deforms a bit. never had the whole weight of the jeep on it though. extended shackles and shackle relocators do a pretty good job at dragging over ledges before the tank does
