I had a Superwinch EPi9.0 that lasted about 3 pulls. It broke and Superwinch said it was my fault and basically said kick dirt. That was after 5 months of back and forth and ME having to make EVERY effort to contact them. O yea I had to pay the $100 to ship it to them to look at it. Anyways, after that fiasco I too wanted an inexpensive winch.
Moto Alliance did a winch giveaway on JeepForum and that was good enough to win my business.
I bought this winch:

It has been a great winch and comes with some nice extras.
Here is their eBay store where you can usually ALWAYS get it cheaper.

As soon as I get a bumper on my Samurai I will be buying another one. They have a pretty good reputation in the ATV and UTV world as well.

Hey Thanx for the info. Rather than some of the other guys telling me to go buy a name brand high dollar winch. I like the viper max 9,500LB plus all the goodies it comes with. I might have to check that one out.

I've been wheeling over 35 years, buy the best you can afford. Why would you buy a winch that didn't even work right out of the box?
Why 12000 lb winch for a 4000 lb Cherokee? One and a half times the rigs weight is the minimum, two times the weight is perfect.

Yes sir! Rated the second worst winch out of 8 brands.
Here's the list rated from worst to best by. Fourwheeler mag
Summit racing
HARBOR FREIGHT
Kodiak bruin
Bulldog alpha
Engo
T-max
Superwinch
And of course warn.
Best value engo
Most dependable tmax
Most complete kodiak
Best looking bulldog
Best exterior finish harbor freight
Fastest to your door summit
Judges choice warn
There's a reason competitors all buy warn. Because they are the best. The last forever. Warn knows it and that's why they stick a lifetime on it.
Some of us build and wheel on a tight budget
Mine is my daily driver and a 12,000 pound harbor freight winch is better than. No winch at all
My buddy has that same winch on his 496 stroker on 44's and it has been working for him or 2 years now

Well im looking at 3 Different winches the HF 12,000LB the RC 9,500LB and the Viper Max 9,500LB that afbond03 was talking about. Those are in my price range. The only 2 things I honestly like about the HF is it has the most rated pulling power over the other two and if it does fail and I were to get the 2 year warranty with it I can always just go by the store and swap it for a brand new one that same day instead of like one of the others you would have to send it off and be at there mercy and wait for them to even fix it or cover it under warranty for another one.
