Default Goof-off on XJ paint

Anyone ever have goof-off damage their paint? I know that the bottle says it MAY affect some paint. Just wondering if anyone had bad experiences...

I have used several different things to get tree sap off with varying results.

Goof off did not hurt automotive paint it also didn't do well getting sap off at all.

insect repellent did alright but sometimes left a spot I had to scrub off but did not harm the paint

freezing it with canned air turned up-side-down then chipping it off did really well but again left the spot that needed to be scrubbed off but did not harm the paint

I want to take off the stupid plastic door trim and Im sure there will be lots of tape residue to remove. I was going to use goof-off.

Goof off would work good for that.

Do NOT use alcohol based cleaners or nail polish remover. Both can harm paint.

Default rubber wheel

i never used goof off but a clay bar works wonders for paint especially taking tree sap off. As far as the the door tape go to NAPA or whatever autoparts store and get an eraser wheel that mounts on a drill. They are the fastest easiest way to remove decals and molding glue.

Thanks man. I ended up just using a blow dryer to heat it up and then rolled it off with my finger. A few squirts of bug/tar remover took care of the left overs.

YES the eraser wheel works wonders....check my pictures and see the difference it made. And im pretty sure the PO used at least 147 different types of glue/tape to hold the trim on.

Be careful with the Goof Off, it damaged some of my paint when I used it to get my trim off. Then again, my door was just painted a month ago, so that might have been why, just a warning

Fresh paint is vulnerable to many things... even some petroleum based polishes will take new paint right off... go ahead.... ask me how I know that
