Good spacer lift anyone?
Well i cant offord to do a fancy suspension lift so im going to have to go with spacers. My budget is under $200, What is the best one to buy, and how high can i go with spacers. Ive herd of 4 inch spacers but i dont know if id trust em or not. What do you all recomend, already got some A/T 235/75/15 tires.

Again, the XJ is a unibody you cannot do body spacers. You can do Rear leaf spring blocks and front coil spring spacers but the blocks are not recomended. I think they cause excessive wear to the leaf springs and may be dangerous to drive with. I dont know for sure because mine isnt lifted but I think your best option would be a junkyard lift. Look into bastard packs and grand cherokee or F150 springs. This will give you an idea http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...udget_Lift.htm

I didnt say body this time, i know about the spring spacers and the shackes for the leaf springs now. when i say spacers i mean they dont add new springs or leafs, the just but a space out the distance between them and where they once were

The "budget boosts" are pretty much similar. Coil spacers & shackles. That was my first lift. Mind you, no matter how broke you are, pretty soon you will want more. I know money is tight, but patience is a virtue & waiting to do a decent 3" lift is worth it. Craig's list & forums like this will be your friend. I sold my original spacer/shackle set-up for pretty much what I paid after a year or 2.
Having said that: Quadratec has a Teraflex budget boost for $133, without shocks. click here.
Rocky-Road has a pretty decent variety of budget boosts - click here. Their service & rep are crappy, but their stuff is very good quality.
Rusty's has a spacer/shackle kit for $99 click here.
There are many other companies to source these from - Search, Be patient, Choose wisely.

I would still take a look at the link. There is also a link on that website to another writeup for a 2-3 inch lift. Budget boosts are also pretty good but according to what most people say make your stock parts wear faster and cause more problems then they are worth. That is what I have heard so dont quote me on that.

you didnt get the rear blocks did you? rear blocks DO cause axle wrap which is very bad, thats the only reason i didnt get it. if youre going for a lift for the rear go for a AAL or a shackle lift, the shackles are what im getting

Heres what you do go to the Junkyard get the following. 1 set of S-10 rear springs $40, 1 set of V8 ZJ springs $40. Then get a set of longer shocks $100 and 1 set of 2" spacers $30. Total $210-$225 net about 3.5"....

only problem i have with the bastard pack and zj v8 coils is that if its a DD you wont have a very good ride, so if its a DD i wouldnt go that route you CAN clear 31s with a 2inch lift, especially if you keep your stock wheels

Anything taller than 2" will require shockes as well. There is a member who makes steel spacer blocks for the front coils. Very highly recommended. Howler GT.

I am runing a bastard pack with a 2in shackle netting 5.5. Most people that ride im mine says it rides better than their stock jeep.
the v8 coils are a little stiffer that the stock xjs. and do ride a little ruff though
31s and stock wheels you run the risk of rubbing control arms at full lock

Ya i waited on the shackels and coil spacers because i was going to see how hard it would be to install a Bastard pack. Got to wait tell friday to get to the Scrap Yard, they still got a bunch of jeeps from cash for clunkers.
