Sorry this will be my first jeep. Good deal or not?

1991 jeep Cherokee 4x4. Black. Automatic. 4 door, 4.0 I6 high output. 127xxxmiles. Recently changed rear main seal, valve cover, oil pan, and oil filter adapter gaskets. No leaks! Changed plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap. Runs good, using as daily driver. Inspected and registered. Title in hand. He says, "Will need new motor and transmission mounts, which I was gonna due this weekend unless I sell it. Bad mounts may have caused hairline crack in exhaust manifold, causing a ticking sound."

Motor mounts and exhaust manifold are no big deal.

Does not sound bad for 1700.00

Thanks

If what he is saying is true than Yes. But obviously I wouldnt trust nobody. Make sure the ticking is not coming from inside the engine. If the mounts were going to be changed this weekend. Just wait till he changes them LOL

I'd pass if it's ticking.

You can get them all day for $1500 mechanically strong, less than 160k miles.

Personally, I wouldn't pass on it because of the ticking. That ticking is very common in all Jeeps. Replace the manifold and you'll be good to go.

1700 seems a bit high but it's do able. I'd offer 1400 and go from there.

Well this one got sold before I could even go check it out. So the search is back on. If anyone knows of any good deals in Texas let me know. Back to checking craigslist over and over all day. LOL

But thanks for the info.

Agreed if it is a known issue, I was speaking generally. I wouldn't expect a cast manifold to crack, but maybe they're different from what I'm used to. Plus, if you can see the residue from the leak, I wouldn't let it hold me back, for sure. Btw I've been through Abbeville many times on my way to the big city of Elberton.

And OP, Yeah... Every one that I called about was gone, so I went back a couple of weeks and texted a guy that had it overpriced, and he still had it, I looked at it that week and bought it.

Honestly, it was still overpriced because it's a huge piece, but think I think junk yards are like candy stores so we'll see what the learning curve is like.

Good luck in your search, it can be a pain. If you want one, better be ready to move if it pops up on CL.

That's a lil' overpriced. I don't know how the market is over there, but I paid 1100$ for my 1993. (I bought it last weekend) The guy was asking 1200$ and I offered him 1000$, but he said no. Mine has a little more mileage (134,000 miles), but had the same amount of work done like that one. Oh yeah, and it doesn't tick yet. (knocks on wood) Keep looking
