Default Going up 1.5" more. Vibes?

So right now I've put together a lift where I'm around 3.5" in the front and almost 4" in the rear. I will be adding 4.5" rc coils and 1.5" shackles (or 2.5" if it doesn't look even) soon (already have control arms brake lines track bar yadda yadda). Right now I also have 2* shims and a tcase drop with no vibes. Will I be ok after the lift or should I start saving for a sye just in case? Shouldn't the shackles help my pinion angle or whatever? Or will the extra inch and a half mess it all up? Thanks.

Yeah.. But aren't shackles supposed to help the pinion angle? Or does that not apply in this situation.

No... shackle angle maybe, not pinion angle.

I remember reading somewhere that a longer shackle would. If its a longer shackle wouldn't that pull the leaf springs back thus rotating the axle as would a shim? Or am I just way off.

that would be some super long shackles. you can buy some shims and try to get as close as possible.

Yeah.. Guess I'll just start putting money away and see what happens when I put everything on. Won't be for a month or so.

You will get vibes. I went with no SYe at 4in with transfer case drop. I installed 4degree shims and had zero vibes. I removed the tcase drop and still had no vibes, I am assuming thanks to the shims. After I went up one more inch I got vibes and grinding. So I installed the tcase drop back in and currently waiting for my SYE to arrive so I can remove the stupid drop.

Sounds like a pita. I'll just save up some money and hope I don't have to use it ha. I played that shimming game when I first lifted it. This time if there are vibes then it'll be a sye.

you can't say that for sure. I'm at 4.5 with a transfer case drop and no SYE and I have NO VIBES. No shims either. I do still need an SYE but it has nothing to do with driveline vibes on this rig, it has to do with the yolk being able to slide further out of the TC than I am comfortable with.

The op is at 4in in the rear and wants to add 1.5 in shackle. Thats 5.5 Without an SYE and TC drops its almost 100% sure he will get some kind of vibes or binding. Also with the SYE you still need to shim the axle regardless. It has to do with pinion angle wich with a double cardan DS should be almost in line with the driveshaft.

Sorry, but when I put a tape measure on my 4.5" rough country lift, it actually sits about 6" higher than stock. There just is no way to tell until the lift is in. You're gonna find alot of people on here telling you the same thing I just did. You might get vibes, you might not.

Doesn't matter how much you lift your JEEP. IF your Jeeps maintenace and condition is not up to par, you will get vibes. If you take short cuts on upgrades and maintenance, you will get vibes. Alltitude does NOT cause vibes, ignorance and laziness does.

Well they are all different I guess. I guess I should say that it was my experience. However I also have 4.5in RC leafs and shackle relocators on top of that and I am at exactly 5in in the rear. I am measuring from the top of the axle tube to the frame. After the instalation of springs and before I got the relocators I was at 6inches also. Is your lift new? Did it not settle yet?

Quick Reply: Going up 1.5" more. Vibes?
