I paid 600 for it. 1997 Sport 4.0 5-spd 207k. Not a spec of rust anywhere on anything!! Power everything and everything but the ac worked(works now). Needed a drivers window regulator( got for 25 bucks at the JY) and the rear gate didn't open( lock rod slid). Had brand new trailer hitch installed and never used, also new tires. Guy thought it was a turd, I could barely hide my excitement lol. Had minor front bumper damage. Other than the above items, I replaced the front brakes from sitting and the front end links. I think I scored quite well

2001 limited. i paid 3,500$ for it, filthy as anything. 3 owners. was loved at one point in time when it was lifted by the previous owner, but he left her outside and drove it daily for a lawn car business and treated it like crap for the few years before i bought it.

it had 3 years worth of tobacco in it, broken ac, broken touch screen headunit, 4 rusty pro comps that werent wired up, mismatched cheapo lift kit, leaking diffs, engine ran like crap, and it was filthy filthy filthy inside and out.

but has no rust, leather seats, brand new 33' km2s, roof rack, 130k miles, and everything is fixed and working now after 1k in repairs. i have big plans for it.

Paid $1550 for my '99XJ, 256k miles

Good: extremely nice looking interior
rear hatch and wiper work perfectly
nice set of Jeep brand rubber floor mats
spare antenna, tail light housing, and oil pan gasket

Bad: tons and tons of friggin rust; ended up completely cutting out and replacing rockers, door sills, and majority of floors.
AC didnt work
blower motor didnt work til i took it apart and cleaned brushes
drivers speaker didnt work
parking brake didn't work.
e-fan didnt work
bald *** mismatched tires
wheel bearings nearing death

I got caught up in the moment while making the purchase, I think...I just really wanted to have an XJ again. Live and learn etc... at least the majority of the problems are all fixed up now! lol

I know I paid too much even 10 years ago: $6200, 79k miles, extremely clean Limited with leather & loaded, pristine paint, 100% stock, great condition. And they were in the process of putting in a new heater core.
Here she is before I went crazy. Cosmetic mods only: mud flaps, bug & rain deflectors, gold molding on the lower panel (don't ask!) & clear lights. I used to clean the wheels with a toothbrush!

8? I dunno ... maybe 8,9 on the condition. 4 on the price ...

Haha I was going to say... for a second I thought it was only me who thinks I got a sweet deal. Been driving her for a month without issues either. Put just about 3k miles on it in that month as well. She is solid
