Default Gear and axle bearing and gear replacement shops in NY

I currently live on long island. I blew out my front axle dana 30 high pinion 3.55 gears. Basically you can shake hands with the pinion shaft. Also, my rear gear bearings are shot. I'm looking for a place on Long Island that specializes in rebuilding axles on the car. If you know any good shops that can do this for a decent price let me know ASAP. Thanks.

Yeah, I concur. Ur use of words like ''blew out'' and ''shake hands'' leads me to the assumtion that u might be better off to start from scratch and change out the whole axle housing. It will definitley be cheaper to buy new axles from the JY and change'em urself.

lol, u'll probably get further with used axles from a junkyard than you will with the ones you have now.
nationwide used auto parts in central valley (46 mi from you) has a 1999 29-spline C8.25 with 107k miles and 4.10s for $300... much cheaper than rebuilding yours. i bet that thing still has clear fluid in the diff. i'd jump right on that, if i were u.
wahl auto (146 mi from u) has a '95 D30 with 4.10s and 89k miles for $250.
that combo would be a steal.
and you'll have spare shafts and knuckles from your current axle set.

they also have a Spicer 35 with 3.55 gears. Would that work with my set up without damaging the bank to much.

The D35 shouldnt be a problem as long as your not running real large tires and wheeling hard. I mean its made it this long right? What you need to watch is the potholes on the LIE, thats what may have done it in lol

ok, maybe i'm not understanding what you're trying to say.
u want to get some axle work done, including re-gearing. front and back. that's about $1000 minimum for parts and labor at a buddy-rate.
i suggest better axles (FRONT AND BACK) for half of that price, and that's what's breaking the bank for you?
i have to ask this... but, did u know that you have a low pinion front axle and Dana 35 is one of the weakest axles out there?

When i did the axle swap in, in feb, I put in a d30 High pinion front end, and my jeep came stock with a Chrysler 8 1/4 i got a quote on just doing gears and bearing at a shop on the south shore they want 700 to do them while the axle is on the truck. I want to keep the high pinion set up. Thats why i want to keep the housing. It's just to much to handle right now these 60 hr weeks are killing me, I have no time to go and fix my own truck by myself anymore. So i think I'm just going to have the gears done by them. But thanks for the info.

oh, ok. well, first of all C8.25 is a good axle, so u outta keep it instead of getting a Dana 35. second, $700 to do the front and back is an excellent deal, i'd go for it. third, if you're gonna do gears for 32s, do yourself a favor and go straight to 4.56s.
