frame rip-HELP!!!

Exclamation frame rip-HELP!!!

ok guys, i was down investigating a creak ive had since i bought the jeep. i reached up and grabbed ahold of the steering shaft and gave it a little turn and watched the frame near the steering box bow! it is ripped from the bottom up to a bolt hole. im going to weld it tomorrow. is there a brace to keep this from occuring again? p.s. i dont off road it. thanks fellas (and ladies)!

im gonna have my grandfather in law weld on it, he restores tractors and builds stuff like the brackets nick_n_ii showed me. if he cant fix it it cant be fixed. thanks guys.

The JKS SBS would definitely be your best repair.


Multiple plug welds will stiffen up the area considerably and spread the stress around. JKS offers driver side only and both sides for those that want to make sure nothing happens up there.

welding wont make the frame fragile will it, you see on some frames it has imbossed on it, "do not weld".

Use the plate listed above, but add a plate on the outside of the frame also similar to what you would have for a winch bumper. You can also buy a brace that goes from the other frame rail to the steering box if you want.
