So, eventually I'm going to get a front bumper/grill guard/winch set up, complete with fog lights.

(2000 XJ Sport)

I'm the type of person who likes to do things in such a way that I can easily revert it all back to stock at any point... so here's my idea.

1. Use the wiring for the existing factory (read: useless) fog lamps to run the new ones, therefore they'll be operated by the factory switch under the HVAC control unit.

That much is certain, I will definitely do that.

But here's the part where I need help decided what to do.

Option A) Splice the new fog lamp wires into the existing for lamp wires, so both the new ones and the stock ones come on at the same time... or

Option B) Figure out a way to change the housing on the stock for lamps to fit an Amber Turn Signal bulb, and wire those up to my turn signals, since the stock ones will likely be obstructed by the part of the bumper set up that goes around the head light.

I think using the stock fog lamps as turn signals would be neat, but it's not at all necessary.

The second part of my idea is to mount roof lights and wire them into the High-Beams somehow, so whenever I turn on my high beams, the roof mounted lights come on. I'd like to install an override switch for it, too, so I can operate them separately. I would also install two smaller fog lamps facing rearward on the back of the roof rack, using a wire running off of my trailer hitch wiring harness, so they activate when I put it in reverse.

Sound like too much of a complicated mess? Should I just fab up a switch panel and run everything off its own switch?
