I am looking to buy a truck i can use every day, where i can have the option of 2wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. I want to add a snorkel on it but i know a snorkle wont work if the engine gets flooded. I mainly want this for floods. I am not looking to drive through a river but if i have to i have the option. i dont want a truck that will look like a hillbilly owns it. I want a normal looking truck that can do these things. I will add a snorkel on it and i heard i need to seal up the engine so water cannot get in. It is possible and i have seen it on many nature shows. I want to be able to drive this every day without having to worry about it killing my gas. Just the minimum to go through floods. Which truck model would be perfect for this and is this capable without it costing alot of money? Will it void the warrenty if i seal the engine? can i get this type of truck built by the manufacturer?

XJ Cherokees have been known to do those things, and the later 80 and early 90 models Toyota trucks with the 22r motor in it. My buddy has one that just hit 306k miles and it runs through Chesapeake Bay water weekly.

Not sure about voiding the warranty but I would not doubt it if it did.

Completely sealing off the engine is not theoretical either but the snorkel helps for the major situations. Cherokees stock are rated up to like 23" of water depth and I have seen them do that and then some.

TylerL. 94 ZJ 3" lift. My DD.

Buy a boat or helicopter. NEVER drive into FLOOD waters, EVEN with a water crossing capable rig.

Check out the disclaimer on these new JKs. Esp the part about not fording water more than a certain amount...and how that voids the warranty...

You could get an older humvee, 60 inches of water fording with the snorkel.
