Fellow Jeepers

I'am running stock wheels with 31 10.50 15 on a 4.5in lift. I want my tires out wider. Whats everyones personal opinion on spacers. Also, what size do you suggest? 1.25in, 1.50in, 2in? I will also be jumping tire size too. Either 32 11.50 15 or 33 12.50 15.

Usafmikejr 10-16-2012 06:41 PM

Also im running stock fender flares if that helps any and I want them outside the wheel well

CheapCherokee 10-16-2012 06:48 PM

couple things.

1) spacers are fine IMO. i run them and they work fine. however, if you are doing spacers all around, black steel wheels cost about the same, and you can get them in almost whatever backspacing you want. the "proper" way to do it.

2) be aware you will be trimming your fenders with this jump in tire size. you can still retain the stock fender flairs, just relocate them when you finish trimming.

TN12valve 10-16-2012 07:12 PM

I would not do spacers at all... Just seems sketchy to me especially if you doing any wheeling.

Like someone above said, just go on summitracing.com and get yourself some Cragar soft 8s or D windows, or V-5s for about $50 a wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing and call it a day. Much safer and will look way better :)

Usafmikejr 10-16-2012 07:17 PM

Wont those steel wheels rust fast though?

CrawlinPepper 10-16-2012 07:22 PM

I just installed my spacers the other day. 1.5" rears and 1.25" fronts. Just install them properly and use red loctite.

If you are going to need front and back it will be about $175-$200 for the spacers. Might as well just get less backspaced steelies if you plan on doing wheels anyway. It wills be close to the same price. Either way is fine though, but don't expect not having to trim.

Could you post pics with the spacers?

OEJ 10-16-2012 08:03 PM

i had them before. i had to replce the bearings after about 20k. now maybe they were goin bad...i dont know.but i wouldnt buy them again. but thats me.

with stealies bein so cheap. go on CL and get a used set. for the price of one set of spacers.

also with 4.5" of lift and 32's or 33's...you def want 3.75" - 4" of back space.
and yes..trimming will be needed.

im getting ready to install a 4.5 lift. i am allready trimmed, i just bought 33x12.50's and 15x10 3.74bs rims and tires.

I've got them and no signs of rust. The paint is pretty weatherproof; for a long time, at least.

i havent done anything to take care of my D windows in the past 3 years, still look the same, the old school wagon wheel steelies were the ones known for rusting easy

yup the smaller the number the more the tire will stick out. so the 4 inch backspacing will stick out more than the 5.5 or whatever the stock bs is

Tracking. I'm just trying to do the easiest thing. I got a friend selling me sets of spacers up to 2in for 130 idk if there is certain spacers that aren't good or something

Very sharp looking jeep. This is a pretty tough decision

Power73 10-16-2012 09:51 PM

What wheels are you running?

unidentifiedbomb 10-16-2012 10:18 PM

Also I know on my Canyon stock wheels it's not recommended that you go bigger than a 10.50 width tire, I have 1.25" spacers all round which cost me about $110 off ebay and they've been great so far since July. If I were you I'd just get a set of new rims

Just find them on Summitracing.com. Price around after that if you want but I think their prices for steelies are pretty fair, minus the shipping and handling fees I've heard they throw at you later. Call and order rather than internet shop. May be able to get a cheaper shipping rate if you talk to them about it.

Power73 10-16-2012 11:28 PM

http://www.summitracing.com/checkout/interim.aspx type in your zipcode and see what it costs to ship to you. it was $191.25 estamated to me. those are 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing

bullettooth2008 10-17-2012 03:06 AM

I bought wider wheels, not much price to spacers anyhow.
Price you see obviously dearer than the states.

the paint on soft 8s is very durable. i have silver soft 8s on it now till i put my 33's and new rims on. they still look great. i've had them for about a year.

5.25-5.5 bs is stock iirc.
the lower the number the more the rim sticks out. as said above.

so for you.. imo...if your goin with 32-33's i would do a 15x10 rim with 3.75" of bs. alot guys run that on a 15x8 rim. and thats fine. they do it for wheeling purposes. it will work. and its better for that purpose. so if thats you then i would run a 15x8 3.75.

where i live if you get caught on state property wheelin its a hefty fine.
hence the reasoning why i got the rims i got. the rims i got have a really nice deep dish look to them and i dig that. so ill be a mall crawler...lol

these are 15x8 with 4" bs

Usafmikejr 10-17-2012 10:49 AM

ok well im assuming these steel wheels dont come with center caps?

OEJ 10-17-2012 07:56 PM

no they are extra as are the lugnuts you will need.
wich are 60* conical seat lug nuts. i got mine from summit. they are silver soft 8s wich i think were slightly more.

i paid 260 shipped for rims, chrome valve stems and center caps. that was about 11 months ago.

Usafmikejr 10-17-2012 08:24 PM

Would anyone happen to know what the BS on the jeep rubicon rims are?

Power73 10-17-2012 08:43 PM

dude just do some searching. its easy. but the backspacing is 5 inches
