and building a cage that isn't designed around safety is just plain stupid. HREW makes sense if its full internal and made to save your life the one time you need it. but if you want to save the body from dents, why use HREW that's going to dent anyway?

exactly. for an exo, dom only. hrew just won't stand the abuse. for internal, hrew will work fine as it's only there incase of a rollover. regardless, sch 40 is not for internal or external. I'd make a luggage rack outta it though.

no need to be sorry. It was just a general question. I need to check on prices around here. Next year I'll start my cage. around April hopefully.

mine came from Chicago tube and iron in Indy. It's about 1/2 the cost from a supplier.

you don't need dom. only in certain sanctioned events, they require certain roll bars/cages to be made from dom. and you can't paint them. but you are still allowed to build and run certain style cages with hrew.

dom is just hrew that's "drawn over mandrel" as to flatten out the seam so the tube is the same thickness all the way around, it's not seamless as some may think.

so for us that are not running sanctioned events, hrew is plenty strong enough. and it's almost half the cost.

But hrew loses strength once dented, dom does not.
