Yes in different ways. First time it was really cold and I had a metal rod holding the hatch up... Went to close the hatch with the rod in place and the bumper fell off because the mounts had rusted through
. Moved to Florida changed the lifts out and two weeks later not the clip but the cup at the end of the lift broke and the thing fell on my head
Just a head's up for everyone buying new hatch struts.
1) They're $25 a piece at Autozone. $20 a piece at O'Reilly's parts store if you've got one nearby. Exact same manufacturer and part numbers.
2) When you search online, search for interior lift supports or trunk lift supports. You'll find them listed under this.
3) And I can't remember if I read it in this post, nor can I verify if it's correct, but I guess depending on the year they can be different designs. Supposedly 95-96, 97+, and others might be slightly different and not necessarily interchangeable.
Just some tips for people like me on a tight budget.

Changed mine out today. It is so nice having a proper, working liftgate!
A helper is highly suggested. I tried a long ice scraper (telescoping) but ultimately need my girlfriend to push it all the way up to the end of it's travel to get the bolts lined up without a headache.
