I have a 84 xj 2 door 4 banger with a auto trans and I am hearing lots of different things that I should just get rid of the jeep cause it will be to hard and expensive to engine swap or change over to a bigger motor is there any better motors I could run that will fit in the engine bay with out having to make cuts I am the second owner got it for free and this old girl has no rust body damage nothing interior is perfect paint is faded but I got it running again any advice I kinda fell in love with it and want to make it great or should I just leave the engine that's in it alone and just run it

My father put a 4.0 in an 84. I was still young so I don't remember the details but i bought it when i got my license. It was my first car.
I do remember that the firewall was an issue but not that big of one. The main issue was up front where the radiator is at. It is certainly possible but it wont be very easy.
I have read about guys doing like the 3.4L or 4.3 vortec in them.
Like those guys said in your last thread, your easiest/most cost effective would be to buy a later model with the 4.0. That being said, if you love it and want to spend the $$$/time, almost anything is possible.
