Quote: Exactly. I want to take my doors of so bad it's crazy. But once you cut those pins there is no way you will ever have a factory seal again and that's what gets me!
to tell you the truth since i made mine doorless and cut the pins it sits better and it closes better also because when i took it off i was able to adjust it and bend some of the corners and now its better then ever. As long as you do your research and know what your doing it will be perfect

Before i cut the pins when my door was shut, wind noise used to come through while driving and now cant hear a thing

Yeah I've heard from both ends of the spectrum. Some say they've had them cut for years and have had no problems. Others say the doors sag and leak and it was just a bad decision. I guess it just differs from rig to rig and you just have to do it to see your result. But yeah like you said if you do your research and do it the right way the first time then the chance of it going wrong later on is very small

Exactly, i took put the busings, but i had to re-adjust them to get rid of the sag, and seal well. After a little time and sweat they seal better than stock, without the pesky bushings

Cant wait to get it done!!! I am using heavy metals write up as a guide (http://heavymetalxj.wordpress.com/2007/08/03/6/) but the only thing he really didn't address was the clearance between the door and fender issue. So i will cut the pins as close to hinge as i can and see what happens. Hope to join the doorless 2 door club this week!!!

i dont know what all the pin problems ppl talk about are. all four pins came with the top part of hinge as i pulled it out. being a 2 dorr can get hard sometimes but its totally worth it. as for the electronics, all i had was the speaker wires. but because i still wanted my sound with doors off. i moved the speakers to under the dash next to my feet.

takes only 5 seconds to pull them off and maybe 30 to put them back on. and i even get compliments from the local cops on how cool it is. doorless is so nice!

as for the mirrors i just got 2 5in convex mirrors from napa that bolt in with a wing nut to my top hinge. they stay close to the body and because they are convex i can still see everything around me. (i like them a lot more than the stock ones) and cops havnt yet said anything to me about them, so im all set. (i do live in a tiny lil town in southwest CO though, so dont take my word on being cop safe)

Quote: Yep that was it. Forgot it wasn't on here. The sag is what worries me. My driver door leaks already.
Honestly, my 98 XJ had more play in the doors BEFORE I went doorless. As said, you can adjust them and get rid of the play.

Here in ohio we are only required one mirror. Rear view inside counts as that one mirror!

in co we are required to have rear view and driver side. i put on passenger because it was cheap and i dont have one on my door, thought i would see what it was like to have one on that side.

I thought the law in CO was that you were required to at least have a rear view mirror. And if some reason that view was obstructed (ex. trailer) then you needed side mirrors. At least that's what I got out of reading the laws. The way they right it is so weird I guess it's just up for interpretation
