Does your wife/GF break your chops about your XJ ?
I have to say that my ex wife would break my stones about anything that I wanted to do unless it benefited her. I did'nt have my XJ then but I am also into old school BMX and currently race BMX with both my kids and she hated everything I did. My girlfriend now not only doesnt break my stones but if I am working on my XJ , there she is with a cold drink telling me that what I am doing looks good etc. It is a breath of fresh air for me to have support and not the constant nagging. So this is basically a shout out to my lady for just being AWESOME!!!!

My wife wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy about getting a new Cherokee Sport as a DD back in '96. She had been driving a pretty sexy '94 Olds Cutlass 3.4L DOHC (burgundy with matching leather). Fast forward to Labor Day weekend 2005. We stopped at a local Ford dealer mid afternoon just to look around the lot. We ended up driving home a 2006 Ford 500 AWD Limited, and its been her DD ever since.
Since I had been working on the XJ this spring and summer, I have it looking pretty sharp. Its clean inside and out, and I've been taking care of some mechanicals....she told me that back when we got the 500 she wasn't ready to quit driving the XJ. She really liked it as did one of her older friends...told me she always liked that Jeep and wished that she had gotten one instead of her Accord (now gone). She's driving an Escape.
BTW, my wife is over 50 and her friend is over 60. I think it odd that they both have owned more refined vehicles but still like the XJ.
Congratulations on having a GF who isn't jealous of your hobby. Your ex WAS jealous that your attention didn't revolve ONLY around her.

The last woman I went out with was tall, smart and sexy (way outta my league), but, she threw a fit the first Saturday I wanted to go wheeling instead of hang out with her. Bye bye. My ex wife was pretty cool about it, she did'nt get it but she knew the Jeeps made me a happy guy so she just rolled with it. If you've got a woman that will put up with our obsession, shes a keeper.

My GF can't stand my jeep & dont like me doing anything to my jeep... she dont like to go wheeling she says it scares her & she dont like the way it rides...to me my jeep rides great for a straight axle vehicle with a 6.5" lift... bad thing bout it is she is a country girl and love riding for wheelers i just dont get it LOL

Guess I got lucky. My girlfriend has her own xj. She got it after we got together and liked mine. She even likes working on her own and getting dirty under the hood.

My girlfriend doesn't mind the Jeeps, she just doens't agree with the amount of money I drop into them. She has bought me stuff for my Jeep but she still questions why I am so crazy about them. I just look at her and say "It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand".

Our Jeep was our marriage gift to ourselves. We signed the papers the day before our wedding and have had her ever since (June 22, 2002). We've put 100K on her together (mostly) and my wife has learned more about vehicles by helping me work on her than anyone in her family knows about vehicles in general. Now our son helps with with working on her. Its a way of life and a GREAT way for a family to spend time together, whether its repairing her, making her better, taking a trip on the highway to see family, and traveling back roads fishing and hunting. Our Jeep is not only NOT a problem, its brings my family closer.

she likes it when we go wheeling but otherwise she gets on my case about it being to tall. She has also threatened me if I lift it any higher.
