We are planning on living out of our Jeep. We came up with the idea to get an extra battery so we can run electricity out of it. We were wondering if windshield washing fluid was legally required because that's where we were going to put the spare battery. Is it illegal or not in Maryland?

1 question. Why are you gonna live out of your Cherokee?

I highly doubt maintaining your fluid reservoir full is legally mandated in any jurisdiction. If you search cherokee or xj dual battery set up you'll get a ton of information to read over. I eventually wanna run a dual battery setup since this will be our vehicle to go camping with. Good luck.

come the first we are going to be homeless. Living out of the Cherokee is the cheapest thing we can come up with for now. It's the best solution because we can't afford anything else.

Thanks, I will do that. It's our only choice, some people on this site don't understand that.

it is not legally required, however you can install it on the otherside of the engine bay (air box side) and just remount the air filter.

also look into a false floor to make a sleep deck. that is what i did so I could keep all tools and stuff under and still have a flat bottom. plus it is padded

You don't need to remove the windshield wiper fluid container. There is a write up on how to put one where the air box is.

You should check with some of the local churches to see if they can offer you any help as far as shelter and food. No family to help you out of this tough spot?

I saw a guy up here that had a tent that attaches to the hatch when it's open. I dont know if he still has it or not, but might make things a little more "liveable" if you ca get a hold of one for cheap. You could probably even use the heat/ac in the tent too.
