Do you leave your D-ring receiver installed?

Hey so I just installed a hitch and bought a D-ring receiver and am curious as to what everyone does with theirs whether it be using a locking hitch pin, remove the receiver, or even just leave it in 24/7. The reason I ask is that it seems that they would be fairly easy to yank off if someone were looking to steal it.

I have a bag I got at harbor freight that I keep all my recovery gear in. I think you're asking for someone to steal it without at least having a locking pin. I don't like leaving it on.
Remove and stow-it for when needed. It's a safety issue as well as a practical one. Safety because it can be a shin, knee or hip buster (depending on lift height) if not paying attention while walking around the back. Practical because it can/will rust in-place unless you can keep the receiver channel clean and lubed. Rubber "butt plugs" are cheap and plentiful - add a roof step or a classy/funny doo-dad.

I leave mine in 24/7. I just have a regular hitch pin in it until I the next time I go to harbor freight. I can't see spending $25 on a reese of master locking pin when the receiver only cost $10. The only time I take it out is when I need my trailer.

Locking it in place is one thing....but having a shackle out like that 24/7 is probably not a good idea depending on where you live. Too many sticky fingers around here. If it's a look you're going after then by all means leave it in, but I recommend storing it safely is a bag with the rest of your recovery gear.
