Angry Do you know if your JEEP is safe tonight?

My xj was stolen last night! Please be on the look out for anyone driving a dark maron XJ 4door Sport! I might catch a little flack but oh well, because I put 20" fusion solace black rims on it. I will post some pics later, I would know but my Internet is down.
I have not been a jeep owner for very long but I know what true love is. And I had that with her! It was stolen Friday night out of Tampa Fl! If whoever stole my jeep would of waited a day longer they would of had a 3" lift and a 3000.00 system! Man I haven't been this pissed off in long time!

sorry to hear.
I've found my with tow ropes attached and down the road a couple times... kill switches have kept it in my possession.
I now have an alarm as well... I know it will not stop a true vehicle thief, but it will make punks and thugs think twice.

Anyone that wants to prevent their Jeep from being driven away, whether or not you have an alarm that can be bypassed or ignored, (unless you have a kill switch already), can remove the starter relay in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) under the hood. Simply remove it and place it in an empty cavity there (there are several) and when anyone jumps the ign. switch, breaks the column, or even has the key, it won't even crank much less start. They'll think the starter is bad or there's some other problem or kill switch and won't waste time looking for a solution, and look for easier pickings. You can simply replace the relay in it's proper cavity and off you go. A minor inconvenience if your worried about losing your Jeep. JMO

What I was actually thinking of doing is wiring in a switch that controls the starter and putting it in a funny place under the dash. Then you can just switch it off but nobody else would know its there. Saves the trouble of popping the hood every time.

A friend of mine has a '70s style floor mounted dimmer-switch under the carpet in an out of the way place that is wired to the starter. Push it once the starter works fine. When he needs security, he pushes the switch and the starter is disabled.

This is some very good advice. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood with minimal crime and even though I'm not worried about my Jeep being stolen, I know it can happen to me. I like the idea of a floor switch too...

Thanks for all the advice! I am pleased to report back that my 1st born jeep has been recovered! I will diffently agree that the 20"s bling bling was a bad choce. I realize know that they caught the eyes of a certain kind of thief. I laugh now because I do have a kill switch in it, but simply forgot to activate it that particular night.
I will not let this minor set back throw me off track thou. if anything good came out of this situation, it was that I need to make my jeep look more opealling to an honest guy. Luckily the thiefs did not know what a 3" lift looked like or how vauleable it was to me because they left it my back seat along with the Rancho shocks! My INS is going to cover replacing the sterring column, drivers seat, side marker switch, radio, wheels and tires. The only thing not covered was my 1500.00 in tools! I am diffently not happy about that part but what can you do except live and learn !

I really apperciate everyones feedback! Be on the look out for a XJ 2wd gone 4wd conversion!
