Hey all,

Due to a recent and unfortunate dog-related incident in my XJ I've decided it's time to get a rubber cargo mat. I drive a '98 cherokee sport with the spare inside in the stock mounting location.

I'm trying to find something that will cover the entire cargo area PLUS the backs of the rear seats when they're folded down. Basically something to cover everything from just behind the front seats to the rear of the vehicle.

It seems like most mats that are sold are only designed to cover the cargo area and nothing more. Has anyone had good luck finding something that meets my needs? Anyone find a universal (cut-to-fit) mat that worked well for this?

Thanks,

Jeff

i bought some of the stuff from walmart that you can cut to fit. one roll will do the cargo area so another should do the back of the seat and rear foot wells. I just did a velcro deal to hold it down. think it was like $17 a roll. it's held up pretty well.

In my trunk I have a 1/4 inch thick rubber mat that was made for a pickup truck. It's real heavy duty, I had to cut it to fit around the wheel wells. I'd get one for a truck with a full size bed. Might work.

I've used the rubber walmart mat but found that it seems to keep the floor/carpet from breathing and when you lift the mat the carpet is soaked! I ended up taking the mat out.

But where does the water come from in the first place?

I have no clue. Maybe it's the humidity. It's 95+ degree's down here and I run the A/C on full blast.
