So I just picked up a Rear Dana 44 that came out of a 87 xj I believe. It has 400,000 miles on it with everything going bad, it needs a total rebuild. So i have been researching everything trying to figure out what to do first since i want to rebuild the Whole thing.

Where do you think I should start on this project?

 

New seals, bearings, maybe gears depending upon their shape

And yeah I was planing to go 4.10 gears because I think the pinion is bad

Is there any cheaper kits then that ??

 

Since you are thinking of a gear change, some gear companies give a rebuild kit with each set

 

I'd also look into a LSD or locker since your already in there.
