Been searching for some custom console ideas. I want to build a new console that has a bit more storage and also has slots for radios as I have just gotten into search and rescue. Also want to be able to have a hefty locking storage compartment that can be easily broken into. any ideas or pics?

Is this going to be a decoy? Might be easier to buy a Wrangler

I meant that can't be easily broken into I want something secure I carry a lot of valuable equipment

 

Look into removing your parking brake and installing a MJ (Comanche) parking brake which mounts on the kick panel (next to your left foot). This would then leave the area between the seat open and available for whatever you like and will make it easier to install the radios as there is ample room there. If you have the full console right now, and you want to go with a custom console you might look at a "mini" console that is found in MJs and some low end XJs, it just goes around the shifters.

You would rather buy a whole new vehicle than fab up something for the vehicle you own? Especially something this simple?

 

I built a steel console in mine. Has a lotta room and locks. I love it, just need padding to rest my arm but I've gotten use to it.
