A couple new guy questions
#16
s'ok np. i've been told that the laredo was under powered by the six, but the 8's were not nearly as robust. i am looking into the possiblity of towing a light trailer, and was wondering if i could get some feedback.

Clarification - the 231 is more durable - especially off road. That's what I meant by stronger. Yes, the 242 is a stronger t-case material wise, but they're not as durable when it comes to hard wheeling. i have to admit though, it'd be nice to be able to use 4wd while on slick pavement.
Though a 242 should be able to handle wheeling from time to time.
All the pictures on top of the forums, that is where if you do that all the time you'd want 231, but if you do that say a couple times a year, a 242 should do just fine right?

look for a XJ with a rear d44 or a 97+ Chrysler 8.25 axle. wish i had known wha to look for when I bought mine. 242 will be better if a dd. especially if you do alot of high way winter snow driving.
