Default convincing the parents.....

Here is the situation.... I have worn out leaves, bad shocks , and need new front springs. My parents gave me my jeep but I put everything into it myself from stock. My solution: 3" rc new leaf kit. My parents aren't for it ( its "unsafe") their solution : all new shocks springs all at stock height ... Same amount of work but their idea is more expensive. I tried to explain that new parts will rid of the bad body roll I have and 3 inches won't create much more... I guess that wasn't enough... Any ideas? I have the money. Its officially their jeep though. Ill take any ideas. Thanks david

I had the same problem with convincing the parrents, it just takes a lot of annoyin them. Look at rustys and get the heavy duty coils. Tell them the heavyer coils will ruduce you body roll.

you will not loose much stability with 3" lift and stock wheels. you WILL need to adapt your driving style to the lift a li'l bit. ideally you wanna go out as much as you go up. so, you wanna add about 3"of width by using wheels with less backspacing.

How about this? You find a set of lift leaves, front springs, and whatever shocks, tell them they're stock height, and lift that *****.

Then say it's because they're new that they sit so high. That they'll settle in a while.

as much as i hate kids disobeying thier parents, i think that might be the way to go. since lift components are cheaper than OEM, they might just think that you found a good deal. but to make it a lot more interesting, you could go down to the dealership, and get a printed quote for the parts, and show it to your parents. they'll see how high those parts can get.

most deffinately with stealership prices they want $130 for a power steering return hose...and body roll would be attributed to other worn components...most people on here have front sway bar disconnects and no rear sway bar and have little to no body roll unless front is disconnected...

If theyre really concerned about body roll, upgrade the front swaybar to a ZJ v-8 swaybar, thicker and heavy duty. Soon when i feel like getting around to it i'll be doing that mod, But not running with a rear sway is barely noticible...had to rip mine off not to long ago... Just have to be a little slower around turns...

But i agree, go to the stealership, and get a quote, and just happen to have the rc lift show up at the door, then lift it, take the hit, and they'll get over it soon enough.

I hate to say it but if it's "their" jeep you might just have to do what they say. Unless you buy it off them or buy another jeep.

It sounds like their minds are made up. I understand their concern, however 3" isn't going to make much of a difference. Like Tural said, you will need to adjust your driving style to the lift a little bit. If you've got any friends or anyone you know who are mechanics, have you parents talk to them about it. The mechanic may agree with you on the issue, but don't go behind their back because that is incredibly disrespectful, and not wise.
