Just the drivetrain or the sub frame and suspension as well?

Well then in that case you're putting a unibody frame on a subframe which is a pain in the butt that would take a lot of fab work idk about that.

Take it from a long time Chevy guy, the only part of an S10 worth swapping into an XJ is the engine, but only if its got the Vortec 4.3. Everything else about the Cherokee is better imo. I wouldn't even swap the GM transmission in an XJ, I'd bolt the 4.3 to an AX15 and NP231. Upgrade the rear axle to a Ford 8.8, and leave the D30 in the front.

Your customer needs a short bus, not an S10/Cherokee Frankensteined pile of crap.

When has the S10 ever had a strait font axle and what makes it so much better. My xj has no vaccum lines for the front. And hell the 4.0 has been tried and true.

I absolutely agree with this statement. I have had a few S10's and still have a 96 with the vortec 4.3. the 4.3 is every bit as reliable as the 4.0 and in my eyes is just as torquey. but there is no way in hell I would swap OUT a 4.0 and replace it with a 4.3 V6 unless there was a problem with the 4.0 and I had a 4.3 just laying around.
the HP D30 is generally swapped INTO S10's for solid axle swaps, and the 7.5" 10 bolt rear is comparable in strength to a D35. some late model S10's came with an 8.5" 10 bolt which is fairly strong but still not worth swapping into an XJ

the trans is hit or miss. the auto trans is essentially a comp controlled 700R4/4L60 which is fairly common in a lot of V8 swaps into a lot of other vehicles, so it can be built to handle quite a bit. more power handling and A LOT more aftermarket support. a great swap candidate for almost any vehicle, but again, the only way I'd replace an AW4 with one is if there was something wrong with the aw4 and I had a 700r4 already available for me.

the early 5spd's are weak azz T5's and I wouldnt swap them into anything.
the later 5spd's are NV 3500's and are have a slightly lower strength capability than the NV3550's in 01-04 TJ's, but the down side is its a 1pc transmission case/bellhousing and it has an internal slave. I would much rather have the Jeep offerings. lots more aftermarket support and ease of repair over the internal slave style

so in summary, the ONLY way I would consider this swap is if its replacing a troublesome 4.0/AW4 (or 4cyl) and I would only use a 4.3/700r4 as the replacement
