I experienced my first death wobble a month ago . I have an XJ that is lifted 4.5 inches, with 32's. I couldn't figure out what was causing it....until my left front shock fell out. What happened was that I didnt grease any of the rubber gromets for the shock. They dried up and fell out of the shock and the shock would move(bounce) around, though still attached. That inturn caused massive vibration and why the shock fell out.

So make sure that the gromets are greased. I changed them out and greased em, no more DW. As for the clunking noises....can't help there. Sorry.

Death wobble is possible with any solid front axle JEEP. It is caused by worn susoension and steering compenents. Check Tierod ends, bushings, trackbar, ball joints, shocks, bearings, u-joints, tire balance, alignment, steering box. When you lift a Jeep you move things out of their "worn-in" position and this can set off DW. Any excess or abnormal movements you find in any of the steering and suspension joints can be the cause.. read this; http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...bble+explained
