Question Cluch problem 91 XJ

New cluch pressure plate, flywheel, converted from interal to external slave cyl. new bell housing, throw out bearing with fork, still won't shift into gear while running. Push pedel down to floor start engine, vehicle won;t move till I start to release pedel, but will not come out of gear. Clutch not releasing properly, like its not going far enough in to release. Anyone got any ideas as to what I need to get done

I have same problem. 91 Cherokee. replaced bell housing converted to new external slave cylinder. Brand new everything. clutch, bearing, New pre-bled slave and master cylinder. Even had company (clutch city) send a different slave/master cylinder. Feels like clutch is not going in far enough. It shifts fine when jeep not running but when I start it does not want to shift.

The kit that I got had a 3 inch push rod on the slave cyl. I got some 3/8 round stock rod cut it to about 3 1/2 inchs. and so far it has been working just find. Still need to put a few miles more on it to make sure everything will be ok. Also make sure that you bleed the system out real good to.

I found where i went wrong. I did not change over to a External bearing retainer. So my throwout bearing is not lining up properly everytime. I found another forum were the guy did the conversion and took pictures. Found what part I forgot to change out. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/l...p-pics-965067/
