after having a modified 04 BMW m3 I understand the useless part of winter driving. but with the jeep i take it to the snow all the time. This is the only time it got stuck in the snow. that I didnt meant to get stuck. in over 4 years
it was on 3" of lift and 32s the only other time its got stuck in the snow was when I did it on perpose to ask my wife to marry me.
a couple things to remember have the right tires and equipment. never be in a hurry.
Up to the bumper with street tires seems a little far out of proportion... Lol
I got lucky. Very powdery dry snow and didn't have large expanses of it to go through. The snow in between the drifts was low enough where I could get plenty of momentum.
Yes, the Cherokee is a good winter vehicle, and does well for me with the Michigan winters. That said, you can still get stuck, etc., it just takes more work to do so. (Thusly, you are more stuck, and it takes more to get out.)
Keep in mind:
1) You will be driving something that weighs more, so it takes longer to stop.
2) While it is nimble, it is not a sports car.
3) 4wd is NOT four wheel stop. (See #1 & #2)
My 97 came from the factory with my name on the sticker, and it turned 298k miles last week. Basic maintenance can do wonders.
Not to nitpick, but I bet the Cherokee and the 370Z are within 100 lbs. of each other.
I'm just going to leave these here, the Cherokee kicks butt in the winter. I live in Alaska, so when winter hits big time all the Cherokees come out to play. these vids are mine.
Yep, my 2013 Mustang GT at 3618 lb. (Manual) is heavier than my XJ and yet it is still significantly lighter than a Camaro SS(3860 lb.) or Challanger R/T(4082 lb.).
Even most of today's compacts are in the 2,800 lb.+ range (these numbers are all for base models, most of these cars can get to 3,000 lb.+ with an upgraded engine and/or a few options):

Cherokees are awesome in snow. Even on my stock all terrains last year I effortlessly pulled an extended cab Dakota out of a revine ( not your typical road side ditch for sure!)

We will see how the bald 33s do this year.
My guess is the Dakota will be pulling you out of the ditch this time.
s XJs spin quick.. once the XJ starts to go around it does it much quicker than a longer vehicle. But just be careful and you'll be fine.
^ This is so true. Once the rear end breaks loose it will swing quickly. Over-correcting is easy to do when this happens and usually makes it worse.
With that said, when in 4-FullTime the rear does not break loose at all during turning and/or acceleration.
