Default The Cherokee is gone...

My sister-in-law who was staying with us had to return to Chicago to help care for her mother who has become ill. Today the '89 Cherokee we had bought for her was loaded onto a trailer for the cross county trip. I'm gonna miss the Cherokee...

I actually enjoyed working on the XJ. It was a little more complex than my old carborated '84 CJ7, but all in all it was pretty simple. Hopefully I can find another one under $1,000 in that good of shape for myself. I was looking on Craigslist last night and the only ones I found that cheap had blown head gaskets (my wife won't let me bring home anything that won't run on it's own).

Easy solution: Tell the wife she has to run before coming home too, she might re-think it.

I don't think that will go over real well. I'm currently in the process of restoring a '74 Honda CL450 Scrambler (I just finished rebuilding the top end and I'm now polishing the engine covers before moving on to the rest of the bike). There is also a dead lawnmower in the carport (My son-in-law broke the cord then disassembled it to try and fix it... He couldn't). And last but not least is the '00 Chevy Tracker my wife bought before we were married. I have to pull the head and at a minimum replace a bent valve because the "L" shaped electrode broke off a sparkplug (only 70psi of compression on that cylinder).

Until I finish a couple of those I'm not allowed to bring home anything else, even though I did sell the '41 Ford fire truck this summer. It hadn't run since before I got it from my father-in-law in 2004.

I'd love to buy that last one (those are my kind of repairs). Unfortunately all three are about 150 miles and a nasty mountain pass away.
