drove an hour to get this.

'97 2-door 5-speed 197k miles. $2000.
engine runs great, but the tranny grinds a little going into 5th. wiper blades look a bit out of whack, the rear wiper doesn't spray fluid, PO said the AC might not work. oh boy, I love this part. a start of a nice project.
the coolest part is I sold my jetta for $3200, so I still got $1200 to play with.

and the 5th is not that bad, it just feels like it hesitates a bit, and when u start letting the clutch off it grinds for a split second and goes right in. my guess is the syncro is going out. it doesn't hurt my feelings. even if the syncro completely gives out, double clutching is not that hard.

hey I did my first mod already. I went outside this morning around 4 and swapped out the dummy cluster for a full gauge cluster.

and that really dosent make me feel any better considering i just found out my 2nd gear synchro is alittle screwy as well.
Man you scored big time! 2K that's it? Sadly, $1200 wont go far in mods. But it is certainly a good start. So what's on the wish list? Lift height you thinkin about? Long arm maybe? Boy oh boy. It's not even mine and I want to build it.

and here's the GOLD! my wife gave me permission to go all out. she loves the green XJ so much that, she wants me to make this one even more.
i'm thinking RC 4.5 long arm
ironrock complete steering
4.10's
15x10 wheels
33's
2-tone paint - undercoating up to the middle body line and black from there on
custom front and rear bumper w/spare tire carrier
apn header, injectors, high flow cat, flowmaster 40
btw, i bought the 2-door so that i can trim the rear fenders without running into the doors. I'm gonna get another set of stock fender flares and build larger ones out of two sets. i don't know why, but i like the stock ones more than the bushwackers

the 5th stopped grinding. the XJ hadn't been driven in a year, so i think it just needed a little bit of friction. this used to be a marker vehicle for wide loads.
