I see a lot of posts on some forums dedicated to lights and they seem to dislike the idea of using LEDs in marker/signal lights. On account of them not being bright enough, maybe?

im not sure.

For the same reason - optics. The factory reflectors were designed to use incandescent bulbs

I will say that the Sylvania Zevo LEDs i put in my tail lights are as bright as stock in the day, and much brighter at night.

The LEDs have caused a lot of people trouble in older vehicles (like our XJs). The grounds on our vehicles were never that great and are even less reliable after years of corrosion. Because the LEDs draw so little power compared to incandescent lights, the grounds can play havoc with them. Sometimes they just stay on all the time. Switches and relays often don't know what to do with them because they're not drawing the expected amount of power.

One guy on here replaced all the lamps on his Jeep with LEDs and had every light on the vehicle start blinking like a Christmas tree. I don't think he ever figured that one out. I believe he ended up changing it all back to incandescents.

Replacement LEDs are usually cylindrical to approximate the shape of a bulb. That's what I have in my Subaru turn signals, and the shape is fine. It really shouldn't make a difference with regard to the reflector.

Lots of food for thought here. I remember a very scholarly post on Renex XJ's and the ground system. Seems like a good reason to go hunt for the ground again. I could not find it where the author described. I think there were even pictures. I need to look again. The recent posts in this thread bring to light some of the issues the Renex poster brought up. Sorry I don't have the gentleman's name. He put a ton of effort into getting us up to speed on a better ac system.

I wonder about putting these in my reverse lights, since they would be white and possibly throw more light. i know it isnt the point of the reverse lights but still.

maybe is there an upside bulb swap that will fit in the connector of the turn signals but produce more light? then too that is probably best served for another thread than this one.

I solved my reverse lights with these:

That's just one. I have both hooked up now.

I'm hoping to avoid some trouble w/ the 3157 reverse lights. I need to update the connections for the new Endpage LEDs. There's a ton of them, which is correct for the EndPage 3157. I do know the existing connectors are 2 wire. Does anyone know please, which one fits the 3157l.
