Default car brake rotors

well i bought my new rotors and pads for my car last month or so, so i decided with these last few warm days,i took a v-day and a half from work to put them on,and do a few other things to my car before the snow piles up. car is up,tires off, calipers off. ok i grab the rotor and yank, nothing, wont budge.so i grab the bfh and pound the hell out of it,still not moving! spray the crap out of it,pounded some more, nothing. heated it and more pounding, grinded some rust and beat the hell out of it some more, still stuck! sprayed again and let it sit overnite, then more spray and heat and pounding, both sides, they aint coming off! so now my car sits in midas, so they can pound them off in the morning, and put my new rotors and pads on. hopefully they wont find anything else wrong and try to charge me a small fortune. i couldve gone to work tonight, but my gf gets off at like 4am or later and i didnt want to pick her up that late, she is driving redmuck.

When they rust on that bad I cut them in half and then they come loose.

The problem is the rust built up on the back of the rotor around the hub. Hammering they crap out of it will do nothing but ruin the hub assembly and possibly brake abs sensors. I've seen mechanics make this mistake over and over again..

I can only assume you're talking about a Jeep. Either way, this was in the wrong section, so I moved it to chat, good luck with your issue...

Oh if this is a 2wd then the rotors dont just slide off. My wifes Dakota had rotors that were also the hub/bearing assembly. Changing those sucked.
