I wouldn't use it.. Something inside could have gotten damaged potentially prevent proper filtration.
I wouldn't use Mopar anyway. From my past research, Mopar does not always buy from same suppliers therefore you never know what you get.
There are at least a dozen other very good filter available. Just stay away from FRAM.

I run the Mopar oil filter. Wix or Napa Gold are good brands. My local Wally-World sells the Mopar for less than my local chain parts stores. I'd return it and get your money back. Just PLEASE stay away from the Fram oil filters. The anti-drainback valves are known to leak so it causes a lot of dry starts in our 4.0's.

not far from Shanghai. When I change my oil soon, I will cut open the
Mopar filter to see what it looks like inside...

Don't use it. We crush all filters at work. They all are the same except materials. Damaged filters won't flow proper due to the inside being crushed together. Buy a Bosch distance plus. Best filter I ever used. Or atleast a wix or purolater gold. Stay away from fram. Cheapest filters out there.

X2, and they are about $3.50 at Wal-Mart.
At the moment I'm using the Purolator PureOne PL30001 (Same size as the FL-1A). My local K-mart stopped selling oil-filters and marked all the PureOnes down to $2.00, they had 3 left and I bought them all. Normally I would go for the FL-1A though since they are nearly as good but cost half as much.
The oil filter that was on my 97 when I first got it was a Fram, with the
black on the end for grip. I cut it open, had 38 paper pleats.
I cut open a Walmart oil filter before, it had 56 paper pleats....

Dang guys thanks for the heads up, Ive been getting fram filters for the past 3 years, cause my dad used to swear it was a good filter, and maybe it was back in his day. But I'll be looking toward better filters from now on.
Hopefully nothing got messed up, ole jeep has been running strong for the years I've had it.

Fram filters are fine on most cars they just don't mix well with 4.0s.
Honestly oil filter brand really doesn't matter that much and neither does the oil brand. Oil change intervals make more difference than anything.
