Buying a cherokee tomorrow.
Hello all,
I've been wanting to get my cherokee project started for quite some time now and tomorrow I'm finally getting around to purchasing a 1990 cherokee! Needless to say I'm stoked. There are just a few things I'd like some input on from experienced and more seasoned cherokee owners. I'm getting a 1990 cherokee off craigslist from some dude. The current owner says the rig runs well and everything functions correctly. I'm picking it up for about 2100ish and the rig has about 255,000+ miles on it. Again this is a project vehicle and I'm not going to use this as my dd. I'm just not sure if I should bother with it. I've never owned a vehicle with that many miles on it before and I'm not sure if a jeep with that many miles will serve as a practical platform for my project. I'd hate for it to have some type of MAJOR mechanical failure after the build. Is it possible to still have a jeep with that many miles that is dependable? anyone have any experience or input on this? This particular cherokee was appealing because it was in excellent cosmetic condition. Thanks.

If the rig was well maintained then there is some life left in it. I think the price is a little high though for a 1990. I'd offer about half of what he is wanting unless it turns out to be in excellent shape mechanically and cosmetically. Good luck.

Thats too much money...my 99 had 155k and I bought it for only a couple hundred bucks more than that with no mechanical or cosmetic issues at all. 9 years older and 100,000 miles more should definatly cost a lot less

I'm running on 250,000 and I use mine as a dd. I do all my maint also so I know every inch of my rig.
Like other people has said way to much. Bargain him down or just look for a cheaper price.
