X2 The only ones I've seen that weren't at least cracked were on street driven vehicles. Even if you only run mud eventually you will brush up against something and that's all it takes. Bushwackers were made for two things, one to make vehicles legal in areas where tires can't stick out too far and two for the look. I admit they might keep some mud from flying up but if you are riding in mud and afraid to get dirty you prob shouldn't be there.

I've owned bushwackers. I dont consider my XJ a beater, though I do wheel it and I've managed to break every single one of them in at least one place. Bushwackers are great if you either live in a place with no trees or dont wheel.
I saw them and love them.
I have the other type and Love the look of them along with the tire coverage.
Some people need flares to be legal in certain states.
But they are expensive and a PITA to install.
Probably would rip off if they hit a tree, but I only can speak for myself but I try to avoid hitting any trees and value my body panels.
Some people don't give a care about body damage and thats fine for them and these flares probably are not for them as well.
Heck metal flares are probably not for them either because whats the point of putting metal flares on something thats all damaged up anyway. lol
Flares do 3 things in my opinion.
1) Look great
2) Protect Mud and rocks from hitting body panels.
3) Make it so you can run larger tires with more offset and still be legal.
cool new option for people with XJ's though.

You all make sense. I couldn't justify such expensive flairs for my old jeep but I also don't think they are so great looking. If I realy liked them I'm sure I'd find a way to justify them. Now, the mall crawler thing, some of us aren't as lucky to live near places to go wheeling our vehicles you lucky bastads. But my vehicle never gets driven to a mall, just not a mall kind of guy, street poser is a better fitting name.
The rig is dead now and sits in a shed. It may look nice on the outside but it's actually a piece of junk. 4 cylinder with blown motor and no/barely any interior. It was just painted to make the exterior look pretty.
Here's a pick with me standing next to it when they first finished the exterior. I tuned the 4 cylinder and changed a lot of stuff to get it barely running. Then it died a few weeks later.
