Seeking advice on a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Country 4 Door 4X4. (I would like to keep the body looking as original as possible) That being said. I would like to keep the trim.

My upcoming plans:
(1) Installing a used front bumper. But before I install, I plan on sanding the bumpers (front/rear), also I will sand the molding on the doors, fenders and rear panels. (2) Repair all rust and a 3 inch hole in the door panel. (3) Take off the luggage Rack and repaint them.

I have blue paint tape, tons of paper to cover the body, tires, grill and lift-gate.

I trucked over to O'Reilly's (auto parts shop) here is my shopping list:

#1. Hole repair, I need Fiberglass Repair Kit, Sandpaper #320/#600 & Bondo.
#2. For the rust (since it is not that deep), I will need sandpaper, sanding block rusty metal primer
#3. For the molding/trim and bumper, a few cans of Duplicolor Champagne Spray Paint and sandpaper.
#4. Luggage rack Repaint, Sandpaper and Epoxy Satin.

Am I on the right path, am I missing anything.

Feedback/Tips/Suggestions are Recommend.

Why sand the trim when you can just remove it from the doors, it will look a lot better, and why sand the bumpers if your going to do new bumpers, seems like a bit of waisted energy. I was thinking a newer xj for the trim (97-up) but you should be able to remove the trim still. As for the front bumper just wait for your new bumper

 

Thanks for the Reply Brew...I am trying to keep as much of the original look as I possible can. I am trying to restore, then do some modding: Lift, Lights, Axle. Love my jeep, it my daily driver ☺

 

Oh that makes sense, you can always buy oem replacement parts from places like 4WD hardware too if anything has been to crapped to rework.
