I think my jeeps had a few things replaced. No tinted windows. No remote keyless entry. Where could I Find the module for this if i had keyless entry? Could i take it to the dealer and have then program me a keyfob if it really is remote keyless entry? but still have the original spare from 1998 Never used

I didn't know my 99 had Keyless Entry until I got my build sheet as I didn't get a fob either, I don't think the PO knew either. I went to the "Stealership" and bought the fob and had them program it for me it worked fine. I would ask if it didn't work what it would cost to repair.


BTW the control unit is under the windshield dome light, its just a circuit board.


Check to make sure all the locks lock/open from the drivers door before you start, that includes the rear hatch also, to see if any repairs there you can do before.

 

Funny you say make sure they all work!! Well all the actuators are working but the rear drivers side door does not lock and even by hand is a pain in the ***** to get locked. What about the tinted glass is this the invisible tint on most factory vehicles or were the windows actually suppose to have dark tint on them ?

 

Surprise, you have tinted glass. Most automotive glass comes with a very light green tint that doesn't look tinted at all. It provides some UV protection but very little darkening.

The "factory tinted windows" that they sold as an option were listed as "Deep Tint Sunscreen Glass" on the build sheet. Those vehicles came with the normal (non-) tint in the windshield and front doors, with the darker tint from the rear doors back. You don't have the Deep Tint Sunscreen Glass on your build sheet, so you shouldn't see the darker glass on your rig.

Well I see you do have the keyless entry in your dome light that's good. I had to replace a window unit in mine that wasn't working, your lock should be a lot cheaper.


Yeah the factory tint is kind of a joke for sure.

 

How good are the key fobs haha? I've heard it does not go through much of anything and you have to point it right at the reciever or it wont work
