Bored and want to do something to my XJ
for the love of god, DO NOT paint your gauge face neon green
check your tire pressure, oil and other fluid levels, cv joints, grease your ball joints up front.
vacuum it, wash it, and wax it.
then drive it.

A good free mod is to remove all the rubber/plastic crap from the wheel wells and under the engine. Improves airflow in the engine compartment, reduces a bit of weight, and prevents mud and salt and other crap from getting stuck in the wheel wells causing rust.

I love hitting mud puddles, should I leave the rubber "crap" from under the engine? Idk if it makes that much of a difference or not. I will take the stuff from the wheel wells tho
It will make a bit more crap get into the engine compartment, but it also makes it much easier to clean it off. Plus half of the XJs I see with the splash guard still there, its hanging half torn off and looks terrible.

@mrfajita
When I got my Jeep, the rubber was dangling from under the engine. I removed this piece because it was a pain in the butt when I would crawl under there and dirt would get in my mouth whenever I touched it.
In the instance of the rubber from the wheel wells, I left mine. I think it's a good idea to keep that in there because it helps keep a lot of dirt and moisture from getting in touch with the interior metal. Mine's certainly not tattered, and if his isn't tattered, I wouldn't recommend removing it either.

Maybe I'm not doing something right.
