Best lift for a 96 Country

I am getting my first car this week and it is a 96 Cherokee country. I want to lift it a few inches, nothing insane or crazy, but so it looks better. What do you all recommend with kits and tires?

put some 31's, two inch lift kit, trim the fenders and call it done till you can afford to put a locker in.
